Our Qualified Staff

They have completed four years of CIT and JC training, worked hard to master the program, and diligently immersed themselves in it. Now, they are eager to share the same incredible experiences they cherished as campers.

Staff are coached and undergo thorough evaluation to ensure they can provide the best program for all children.  All staff are certified in First Aid, CPR, Emergency Response, and student safety.  Additionally all staff undergo fingerprinting and screening by the Stanislaus County Office of Education, adhering to the same rigorous standards as any school employee.

We maintain a camper-to-staff ratio of 1:10 and a lifeguard ratio of 1:25 at all times. There are typically about 150 participants each week of camp, including campers, Counselors-in-Training, and Junior-Counselors.

• Due to overwhelming participation in our outstanding Junior Counselor Program, we generally have no positions available on staff.

COUNSELOR

Each dorm, of 10-15 campers, will have a staff member as a counselor.  Additionally, each dorm may have a Junior Counselor participant and sometimes a Counselor-In-Training (participant).  These leaders are trained, evaluated, and coached throughout the week.

HEAD COUNSELOR

Leader for the counselor staff, often counselor for the Counselor-In-Training Dorm.

LIFEGUARDS

Trained and certified lifeguards will supervise all pool time and water play at Pinecrest Lake.

HEALTH CLERK

Similar to a school health clerk, this staff member administers medication, provides first aid and CPR, and will call you for any medical concerns beyond minor first aid.

IMAGINEERs

All the kids know who this staff member is, but the title leaves adults confused! 

The Imagineering staff are the creative geniuses who bring the movie, book, game to life here at Foothill.  They are the creative and logistical leaders who create a storyline, design sets, and organizes challenges for the weekly themed program nights.

CIT/JC DIRECTOR

Trains, monitors, evaluates, and develops Counselors-in-Training and Junior Counselors.

ARTS ’N CRAFTS DIRECTOR

Ensures we have all the necessary materials to support the creativity and imagination of our children and staff as well as oversee the cleanup efforts.

SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR AND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Orchestrates seamless experiences by ensuring everyone is in the right place at the right time, equipped with the necessary resources, and promptly addresses any challenges that arise.

Buddy Dinner takes place every Monday night. Staff and campers dress up according to one of three categories: Most Exact Matching, Most Creative Matching, and a third category that changes each week to match the camp theme.

Campers are not required to bring anything special for this event, but they’re welcome to plan ahead if they’d like. Any child who wants to participate can easily join in—whether they put together a fun outfit or simply wear their camper shirt (given to them that day), which always counts toward the Most Exact Matching category. 

Campers can bring extra bandannas, sunglasses, silly hats— or they can get creative with a new friend to match using what they already have.  It's a fun, creative, low-pressure way to use what they already have and meet new people.
